We are a locally-owned global manufacturing company that designs and produces high-performance custom fluid sealing solutions for multiple industries including medical, aerospace, oil and gas, food packaging, and alternative energy. Our Machining team consists of approximately fifteen highly skilled employees who work two shifts.

A Day in the Life of a Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer

As our Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer, you balance your time between programming complex jobs (GibbsCAM & G-Code), evaluating manufacturing plans, and hands on machining. You develop and manage manufacturing plans to ensure quality, cost, and efficiency requirements are met and that best practices are followed. You are an internal service provider and a resource to all machinists. You assist with troubleshooting problems in production activities and collaborate with others to generate solutions. You enjoy variety and frequently roll up your sleeves, in an ultra-clean shop environment, to setup and machine complex parts on a variety of CNC Machines, including but not limited to our brand new 5-axis Okuma VTM-2000YB or our Mori-Seiki NT4300 MTM.

You assist with reviewing the efficiency, output and safety of machining processes through observations and measurements as well as by collecting and interpreting data. You facilitate release to production (RTP) meetings with appropriate staff ensure that adequate detail is included to allow for easy interpretation during machining operations. You frequently communicate with Engineering and Sales to ensure manufacturing capabilities are understood and that machining time estimates are accurate.

Meanwhile, you support and advance our culture of continuous improvement and help move suggestions from ideas to implementation. You effectively use technology tools to measure results of these actions and make adjustments based on data. You develop tooling lists, set-up sheets, processing guidelines, and fixture drawings/details while ensuring that instructions are clearly documented and accessible to the entire team. You align improvements with a documented process and drive standardization of best practices throughout the machining team.

Qualifications for a Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer

  • 7-10+ years of broad manufacturing experience, ideally in a complex CNC machining environment.
  • Flexible 'can-do' attitude is needed to succeed in our environment. 
  • Expert level proficiency in the use of CAD/CAM software with extensive experience creating CNC Programs using G-Code, canned cycles, and Macros.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with a variety of CNC Machines. 
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and prints.
  • Highly proficient in the use of technology tools including SolidWorks, GibbsCAM, MS Office Products and MRP/ERP systems such as Epicor

Flexible Work Schedule

The typical schedule would be Monday - Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm with some flexibility. Since machinists work across two shifts you must be willing to answer critical questions over the phone outside of business hours. This position typically requires 40-45+ hours a week in the office to be successful.
